Upper Shock Mount Assembly Procedure (1992-98)

Installing Remote Adjustable Shock Absorber Mounting Parts (1992-98)





1. Drive surface; 2. Nut; 3. Washer; 4. Hairpin; 5. Shock absorber stud end; Size B = 1.5–2.5 mm


Removal and installation



1. Raise the front of the vehicle high enough to access the upper shock absorber mount.

2. Remove the wheel.

3. Unscrew the upper mounting nut, remove the rubber buffer and washer.

4. Loosen the lower mounting bolt and remove the shock absorber.

5. When assembling, install the shock absorber, buffers and tighten the nuts and bolt without tightening.





6. Orient the shock absorber so that the white marking (1) faces away from the vehicle. For 199298 vehicles, tighten the bolt nut to a torque of 88-103 N·m. For other vehicles, tighten the lower mounting bolts to a torque of 9-14 N·m.



7. On 1992-98 vehicles, tighten the upper mounting nut so that dimension A=1–2 mm.

8. Tighten the top mount nut until the thread ends, then tighten and tighten the lock nut to 12–18 N·m.
