Front suspension shock absorber strut (Mitsubishi Space Star)

Removal

• In the engine compartment, remove the relay box.
• Loosen the front wheel mounting bolts. Apply the parking brake, then raise the front of the vehicle and secure it on stands. Remove the appropriate front wheel.
• Remove the brake hose clamp (Fig. 14.25). Do not tear or damage the brake hose.

• On a vehicle with ABS, disconnect the connector, remove the bolt and remove the front wheel speed sensor.
• Hang the lower front suspension arm on a wire.
• Loosen the nuts and remove the 2 bolts securing the strut to the steering knuckle.
• Disconnect the front axle and steering knuckle.
• Loosen the nuts that secure the upper shock absorber strut to the body.
• Remove the shock absorber strut from under the car fender.

Examination

• Check for fluid leaks from the shock absorber strut.
• Check the rack for deformation or external damage.

Installation

• Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following.
• Install the relay box.
• Adjust the front wheel alignment angles.
