Steering column switch

The check is performed only during driving.
Checking the cruise control operation
1. Turn the main switch to the On position.
2. While driving at a speed of 40 km/h, press the Set button.
3. Make sure that the speed does not change when you release the button and remains constant while moving.
Attention! If the speed decreases by approximately 20 km/h when climbing (15 km/h for vehicles 1992-98.) relative to the set one, then the cruise control will turn off automatically.
Acceleration
1. Pick up speed.
2. Move the switch to the Resume position.
3. Make sure that when you hold the switch in this position, the speed increases, and when you release it, the vehicle speed remains constant and equal to the speed at the moment you released the switch.
Attention! Even if the speed reaches the maximum value of 145 km/h during acceleration (200 km/h for cars 1992-98.), then the acceleration will still continue. After releasing the switch, the speed will slowly return to the limit value.
Engine braking
1. Pick up speed.
2. Move the switch to the Set position (press the Set button on early release cars).
3. Make sure that when you hold the switch in this position, the speed decreases, and when you release it, the vehicle speed remains constant and equal to the speed at the moment you released the switch.
Attention! If the speed reaches the lower value of 40 km/h, the cruise control will be switched off automatically.
Disconnect and Resume (cancel and Resume modes)
1. Turn on cruise control.
2. Make sure that the cruise control is disengaged when one of the following conditions is met: the switch is set to the Cancel position, the brake pedal is pressed, the clutch pedal is pressed, or on vehicles with an automatic transmission, the selector is moved to the N position.
3. While driving at a speed of at least 40 km/h, move the switch to the Resume position.
4. Make sure that the vehicle speed has become equal to the speed it was moving at before this speed was cancelled.
5. While driving at a constant speed, turn the main switch to the Off position and check that the vehicle returns to normal driving mode.
Speed sensor
To access the sensor, you need to remove the instrument panel (see subsection 13.16).
