Evaporator Parts (1992-98)

The evaporator is covered with a casing, which can be removed by pressing the latches with a tool resting on a soft lining and unscrewing the screws that hold the two halves of the casing together.
Replace all refrigerant fitting seals.
Cars 1983-91.
1. Depressurize the refrigerant line at a car service center.
2. Disconnect the battery from ground.
3. Unscrew the pipe fittings on the engine compartment bulkhead, unscrew the nut directly above the hoses.
4. Remove the storage box, windshield blower channel and disconnect the connector.
5. Disconnect the transition section between the evaporator and heater housings.
6. Remove the drain hose.
7. Loosen the bolts and remove the evaporator.
8. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
Cars 1992-98.
1. Depressurize the refrigerant line at a car service center.
2. Disconnect the battery from ground.
3. Unscrew the pipe fittings on the engine compartment bulkhead.
4. Disconnect the drain hose.
5. Remove the storage box and speaker grille.
6. Loosen the bolts and remove the reinforcement strip under the front panel.
7. Remove the right footwell duct and disconnect the connector from the air conditioning control panel.
8. Loosen the bolts and remove the evaporator.
9. If necessary, remove the casing, control unit, air temperature sensor, expansion valve and tubes from the evaporator.
Attention! Before installing a new evaporator, fill it with special oil at a car service center. If R12 refrigerant is used, 60 cc of Nippondenso Oil 6 is poured in; if R134A refrigerant is used, 40 cc of Nippondenso Oil 8 is poured in.
10. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
