Some 1983-91 vehicles are equipped with a 2-stage air conditioning system, which includes a rear air conditioning unit.

Removal and installation



1. Depressurize the refrigerant line at a car service center.

2. Disconnect the battery from ground.

3. Unscrew the pipe fittings on the engine compartment bulkhead.



4. Remove the rear pillar trim on the right side, underneath which the evaporator is located.

5. Unscrew the tube fittings on the evaporator and disconnect the upper air duct.

6. Disconnect the connector, unscrew the bolts and carefully remove the evaporator.

7. Installation is carried out in reverse order.

8. Replace the sealing rings of the fittings, lubricating them with DENSO OIL or SUNISCO 5GS compressor oil.
