Checking the amount of effort required to turn the steering wheel on a stationary vehicle (Mitsubishi Pajero 4)

1. Place the vehicle on a level horizontal surface and set the steering wheel strictly parallel to the vehicle axis in the longitudinal direction.

2. Start the engine and set the speed to 750±100 rpm.

Caution: After checking the specified speed, set the idle speed.

3. Install the spring dynamometer on the steering wheel rim. Measure the turning force required to turn the steering wheel from a straight-ahead position to the left and right (1.5 turns). Also make sure that there are no significant variations in the amount of steering effort required.

Nominal value:

• Steering wheel effort: 39.2 N or less
• Allowable deviation: 5.9N or less
