
2. Measure the free play of the steering wheel by turning the steering wheel slightly in both directions along its rim until the wheels begin to move.

3. When the play exceeds the maximum permissible value, check the play in the connection of the steering shaft and steering gear. Tighten the connection or replace worn parts.

4. If the play again exceeds the maximum permissible value, set the steering wheel strictly parallel to the longitudinal axis of the car with the engine turned off. Apply force towards the steering wheel rim and check for play.
Nominal value (steering wheel play when engine is off): 10 mm or less.
If the play exceeds the maximum permissible value, remove the steering gear and check the rotation of the pinion gear.
