Caution: Removed airbag modules should be stored in a clean, dry location with the airbag deployment side facing up.
2. Make sure that there are no dents, cracks or deformations on the protective covers of the modules.
3. Make sure there is no damage to the connectors, deformation of the terminals or kinks in the wires.
4. Make sure that there are no dents, cracks or deformations in the body of the inflatable device.
5. Check the wire harnesses and connectors for damage, and the terminals for deformation.
6. Check the clock spring connectors and protective tubes for damage, and the terminals for deformation.
7. Visually inspect the clock spring housing for damage.
8. Align the assembly marks of the clock spring and, after turning the front wheels of the car to a position strictly parallel to the longitudinal axis of the car, install the clock spring in the steering column switch. Rotate the clock spring fully clockwise and then back off approximately 3.45 turns counter-clockwise to align the assembly marks.
Caution: If the clock spring assembly marks are not aligned correctly, the steering wheel may not turn fully when turning, or the flat cable inside the clock spring may be damaged, preventing the SRS from operating properly, which may result in serious injury to the vehicle driver and front passenger.
9. Install the steering column covers, steering wheel and air bag module.
10. Check the steering wheel for noise, binding or stiffness.
11. Check the free play of the steering wheel.
Caution: The SRS may not deploy if any of the above parts are not installed correctly, which could result in serious injury or death to the driver or front passenger.
