Steering column switches and lighting control — headlights (Mitsubishi Pajero 4)

The headlights are turned on by turning the steering column switch handle.

OFF	All lights are off
	The front and rear side lights, license plate light, and instrument panel lighting are on
	Low beam headlights are on, all other lights may be on

Note:

• Do not leave the low beam headlights or other lights on for long periods of time when the engine is not running. This may result in battery drain.
• During rain or after washing the car, fogging of the headlight lenses may occur. This phenomenon has the same causes as fogging of window panes in humid weather and is not a sign of a malfunction. When you turn on the headlights, the moisture will evaporate from the heat. However, if water accumulates inside the headlights, it is recommended to have them checked.

Daytime lighting system (optional)

When the ignition key is turned to the ON position, the low beam headlights, tail lights, etc. come on even if the headlight switch is in the OFF position.

Automatic switching off function of lighting devices (headlights, fog lights, etc.)

If you turn the ignition key to the LOCK or ACC position or remove it from the ignition switch, all lights will remain on for the next 3 minutes if the headlight switch is in the , and the driver's door is closed. Then the lights will turn off automatically.

If the driver's door is opened within 3 minutes after the ignition key is turned to the LOCK or ACC position or removed from the ignition switch while the headlight switch is in the , a buzzer will sound to warn the driver that the lights are on, and the lights themselves will automatically turn off.

Note:

• If the headlight switch is in the position the automatic switch-off function for the lights does not work.
• If the ignition key is turned to the LOCK or ACC position or removed from the ignition switch while the headlight switch is in the , and then return the headlight switch to the OFF position within 3 minutes, the automatic headlight off function will not work.

Leave the light on if necessary

• Turn the ignition key to the LOCK or ACC position or remove it from the switch, and then turn the headlight switch to the OFF position.
• Turn on the headlights by turning the headlight switch to the position or . After this, the light will remain on.

Buzzer to warn when the light is on

If the driver's door is opened while the lights are on and the ignition key is in the LOCK or ACC position or removed from the ignition, a buzzer will sound to alert the driver that the lights are on. When the automatic light switch-off function is triggered, the buzzer automatically turns off. If this function is not enabled, you must turn off the lights to turn off the buzzer.

Headlight high/low beam switch

If the headlight switch is in the position , then each time the lever is moved to position (1), the light switches from low beam to high beam and vice versa. When the high beam headlights are switched on, the corresponding indicator lamp on the instrument panel lights up.

Flashing high beam headlights

The high beam headlights are switched on when the lever is moved to position (2) and go out when the lever is released.

When the high beam is turned on, the high beam indicator lamp on the instrument panel also lights up.

Note:

• Flashing the high beam headlights is also possible if the light switch is in the OFF position.
• If you turn off the headlights with the high beam headlights on, then the next time you return the headlight switch to the position the headlights will automatically switch to low beam.

Headlight corrector

The angle of the headlights changes depending on the vehicle load. The headlight beam corrector is used to adjust the direction of the light beam (with low beam on), so that the headlights do not blind oncoming drivers.



Install the regulator in accordance with the recommendations in the table, depending on the number of passengers and the presence of cargo in the vehicle.
