Removal the gear shift mechanism



Caution: When removing and installing the shift cables and linkages, be careful not to touch or hit the SRS control unit.


1. Set the gear selector lever to position "N".



2. Remove the shift handle (1).

3. Remove the handle cover (2).

4. Remove the bushing (3).

5. Remove the transfer case shift lever handle (4).

6. Remove the gear shift indicator panel.

7. Remove the transfer case gear shift lever switch assembly (5).

8. Remove the transfer case gear shift lever switch (6).

9. Remove the transfer case gear shift lever switch bracket (7).

10. Disconnect the shift lock cable connection (8).

11. Disconnect the gearbox control cable connection (9).

12. Remove the gear selector lever assembly (10).

13. Remove the gearbox control cable assembly (11).

Installing the gear shift mechanism



Note: When installing, tighten the bolts to the tightening torques shown in the figure.


1. Install the gearbox control cable assembly (11).

2. Install the gear selection lever assembly (10).

3. Connect the gearbox control cable connection (9).



4. Connect the shift lock cable connection (8).

1) Set the selector lever handle, and then set the selector lever to the "P" position and turn the ignition key to the LOCK "OFF" position.

2) Install the shift lock cable rod into the shift lever assembly lock cam, install the shift lock cable bolts.

Tightening torque: 5.0±1.0 Nm.

3) Check the functionality of the shift lever assembly.



5. Install the transfer case gear shift lever switch bracket (7).

6. Install the transfer case gear shift lever switch (6).

7. Install the transfer case gear shift lever switch assembly (5).

8. Install the gear shift indicator panel.

9. Install the transfer case shift lever handle (4).

10. Install the sleeve (3).

11. Install the handle cover (2).

12. Install the shift handle (1).

13. Adjust the gearbox control cable.

14. Check the correct and smooth operation of the gearshift lever and transfer case.
