Assembling the main shaft (Mitsubishi Pajero 4)

1. Install the main shaft (27).

2. Install the needle bearing (26).

3. Install the second gear pinion (25).

4. Install the inner synchronizer ring (24).

5. Install the synchronizer cone (23).

6. Install the outer synchronizer ring (22).

7. Install the synchronizer spring (21).

8. Install the 1st - 2nd gear synchronizer sliding sleeve (20).

1) Assemble the inner ring, outer ring and cone and install into the synchronizer sliding sleeve.



2) Install the 1st-2nd gear synchronizer sliding sleeve onto the main shaft using special tool MD998812, MD998814 and MD998813.



9. Install the 1st - 2nd gear synchronizer ring gear (19).

1) Make sure that the 1st - 2nd gear synchronizer ring gear is positioned in the correct direction.





2) Install the synchronizer ring gear as shown in the figure.



10. Install the synchronizer spring (18).

1) Install the synchronizer spring onto the synchronizer ring so that the spring is positioned as shown in the figure.



11. Install the outer synchronizer ring (17).

12. Install the synchronizer cone (16).



13. Install the inner synchronizer ring (15).

14. Install the needle bearing (14).

15. Install the first gear pinion (13).

16. Install the bearing sleeve (12).

1) Install the bearing sleeve onto the main shaft using special tool MD998812, MD998814 and MD998822.



17. Install the ball bearing (11).

1) Install the ball bearing on the main shaft using special tool MD998812, MD998814 and MD998822.



18. Install the fifth gear pinion (10).

1) Install the fifth gear onto the main shaft using special tool MD998812, MD998814 and MD998822.



19. Install the needle bearing (9).



20. Install the third gear pinion (8).

21. Install the inner synchronizer ring (7).

22. Install the synchronizer cone (6).

23. Install the outer synchronizer ring (5).

24. Install the synchronizer spring (4).

25. Install the 3rd - 4th gear synchronizer sliding sleeve (3).

1) Make sure that the 3rd - 4th gear synchronizer sliding sleeve is positioned in the correct direction.



2) Install the 3rd - 4th gear synchronizer sliding sleeve using special tool MD998812, MD998814 and MD998822.



26. Install the 3rd - 4th gear synchronizer ring gear (2).

1) Make sure that the 3rd - 4th gear synchronizer ring gear is positioned in the correct direction.



2) Install the synchronizer ring gear as shown in the figure.





27. Install the spring ring (1).

1) Measure the gap between the spring ring and the sliding sleeve of the 3rd - 4th gear synchronizer.

Standard gap value: 0.00 -0.08 mm.
