Caution: Before removing the air bag module and clock spring, observe the safety precautions when servicing the SRS system.


Removal



1. Remove the steering column switch with built-in windshield wiper and washer switch, as well as the wiper relay.

2. Disconnect and remove washer hose 3 (Fig. 17.49).

3. Remove the 2 washer nozzles.

4. Remove cover 4.

5. Unscrew nut 5 and remove arm and wiper blade 1. Remove the arm and wiper blade with the wiper arm raised as shown in Fig. 17.50.

Caution! If you remove the windshield wiper arm in the lowered position, the spring pressure will damage the conical bore of the arm with the splines of the drive shaft, which will reduce the reliability of this connection by increasing the diameter of the conical bore of the windshield wiper arm. Therefore, perform the operation carefully.


6. Loosen the windshield wiper motor mounting bolts, disconnect the electrical connector and remove the motor 7 (see Fig. 17.49).

7. Remove seal 6 from the engine shaft.

Installation



Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
