Trunk door handle (Mitsubishi Space Star)

Removal

• Remove the trim from the tailgate.
• Remove the license plate light trim.
• Loosen the nuts and remove the luggage compartment door handle (Fig. 17.59).

• Remove the retainer and remove the lock cylinder from the tailgate.
• Remove the bolts, disconnect the connector and remove the tailgate lock actuator.
• Remove the bolts and the tailgate lock.

Installation

• Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following.
• Before installing the tailgate handle and lock, lubricate them with grease in the areas shown in Figure 17.59.
• Check the free play of the tailgate handle.
