The steering column is energy-absorbing and has an adjustable tilt angle. The power steering is integrated with the rack and pinion steering mechanism, in which the rack and the steering rods are assembled into a single unit. The power steering is equipped with a vane pump with fluid flow control, so that the fluid supply changes with the engine crankshaft speed. The power steering uses DEXRON or DEXRON II automatic transmission fluid. The diagram of the power steering mechanism is shown in Figure 13.1.
