1. Instead of the adjusting washers, install a soldered wire approximately 10 mm long and about 1.6 mm in diameter.

2. Tighten the crankcase mounting bolts to the required torque.

3. Remove the crankcase again and remove the soldered wire. If the wire is not compressed, take another wire with a larger diameter and repeat the operations of points 1 and 2.

4. Measure the thickness of the compressed wire with a micrometer and select an adjusting washer of the thickness that, after installation, will provide the required axial clearance or preliminary tightening of the bearing (Figure 11.15).

Figure 11.15. Measure the thickness of the compressed wire with a micrometer and select an adjusting washer of the thickness that, after installation, will provide the required axial clearance or preliminary tightening of the bearing

Pre-tightening of the primary shaft: 0-0.05 mm.

Axial clearance of intermediate shaft:
  • Manual transmission F4M21, F5M21 - 0.05-0.17 mm.
  • Manual transmission F5M22 - 0.05-0.10 mm.

Secondary shaft:
  • Manual transmission F4M21, F5M21 (before June 1987) - 0.05-0.17 mm.
  • Automatic transmissionmanual transmission F4M21, F5M21, F5M22 (since July 1987) - 0.05-0.10 mm.

Differential axial clearance:

  • Manual transmission F4M21, F5M21 - 0.05-0.17 mm.
  • Manual transmission F5M22 - 0.05-0.10 mm.
