All vehicles described in this manual are equipped with metric size fiberglass or steel radial tires (see illustration). Using other sizes and types of tires may result in poor ride and handling characteristics. Do not mix tire types, such as radials or bias-ply tires, as these will make the vehicle very difficult to handle. It is recommended that both tires on the same axle be replaced at the same time, but when replacing only one tire, be sure to install a tire of the same size, structure, and tread design.

Tire pressure has a major impact on handling and tire wear, so it is important to check your tire pressure at least once a month or before a long trip (see Chapter 1).

If the wheel rims are bent, dented or leaking air, the bolt holes are loose, the wheel rims are heavily rusted and the mounting nuts do not tighten, the wheel rims must be replaced. It is not recommended to repair the wheel rims using welding or forging.

The balance of tires and wheels has a decisive influence on the handling and braking characteristics of the car. Unbalanced wheels affect both the performance of the car and the wear of the tires. After installing the tires, it is necessary to perform wheel and tire balancing in a car repair shop using the appropriate equipment.
