Caution: The electric cooling fan may turn on at any time, even with the ignition off. Disconnect the power to the fan motor or the negative battery cable.
1. The air filter and PCV filter (if equipped) must be replaced at the specified intervals. The engine air filter also supplies filtered air to the PCV system.
Carburetor models
2. The filter is mounted on the top of the carburetor and is replaced by unscrewing the wing nuts, disconnecting the clamps from the top of the filter housing and removing the cover.
3. After removing the top cover, be careful not to drop anything into the carburetor or air filter.
4. Remove the filter element from the housing and wipe the inside of the housing with a clean cloth.

5. Install the new filter element into the air filter housing. Make sure the filter element is seated correctly on the bottom of the housing.
6. The PCV filter is also located in the air filter housing. Remove the top cover and air filter as described above, then locate the PCV filter on the side of the housing.
7. Remove the old filter.

8. Install a new PCV filter and a new air filter.
9. Replace the top cover and connect the hoses. Do not overtighten the wing nuts.
Fuel Injected Models
10. Disconnect the connector from the air flow sensor, if installed. Remove the air intake hose.
11. Open the clamps and remove the air flow sensor from the air filter housing.

12. Remove the old filter element from the air filter.

13. Insert the new filter element into the air filter housing and align the petals, then install the air flow sensor housing and secure it with clamps.
14. Connect the air intake manifold, ensuring a tight seal.
