This portion of Chapter 2 describes general procedures for rebuilding the cylinder head and engine internals.
The information includes advice on preparing for an overhaul and purchasing spare parts, and detailed step-by-step procedures for removing and installing internal engine components, as well as inspecting parts.
The following sections assume that the engine has been removed from the vehicle. Information regarding repairs to the engine installed in the vehicle, as well as information regarding removal and installation of external components during engine rebuilds, is provided in part A of this chapter and in section 8 of this part. Information on identifying engine models and numbers is provided in the Engine Identification Table in Chapter 2A, section 1.
The specification included in this part applies only to the inspection and overhaul procedures described below. Additional data are given in part A specifications.
