2. If you cannot get a stand, you can disassemble the engine by placing it on the floor and supporting it for stability. When working without a stand, be especially careful.
3. If you are going to buy a rebuilt engine, you will first need to remove the external elements that will be relocated to the purchased engine. These are the following elements:
- Generator and brackets.
- Elements of the system for monitoring the emission of toxic substances into the atmosphere.
- Ignition distributor, spark plugs and high-voltage wires.
- Thermostat and casing.
- Water pump.
- Carburetor and injection system components.
- Intake/exhaust manifolds.
- Oil filter.
- Engine mounting units.
- Clutch and flywheel/drive disc.
- Rear engine panel.
Note: When removing external components from the engine, pay attention to parts that may be useful during installation. Note the position of gaskets, seals, spacers, pins, brackets, washers, bolts and other small parts.
4. If you purchased a cylinder block in a small assembly, which consists of a cylinder block, crankshaft, pistons and connecting rods in assembly, then you must also remove the cylinder head, oil pan and oil filter. Additional information on possible engine assembly options is provided in the section "Engine assembly options".
5. If you plan to perform a complete engine overhaul, you must disassemble the engine and remove the internal components in the following order:
- Camshaft cover.
- Intake and exhaust manifolds.
- Valve rocker arms and shafts.
- Timing belt cover.
- Toothed belt and sprockets.
- Camshaft.
- Cylinder head.
- Oil pan.
- Oil pump.
- Back cuff cover.
- Pistons/connecting rods assembly.
- Crankshaft and main bearings.
