Clutch slave cylinder — removal, overhaul and installation (Mitsubishi Galant 5)

1. Disconnect the hydraulic pipes from the slave cylinder and plug the end of the pipe to prevent fluid from leaking.

2. Remove the cotter pin (if any).

3. Unscrew the working cylinder mounting bolts and remove the working cylinder.

4. To remove the internal parts of the cylinder, wrap the piston with a rag and apply slight air pressure to the fluid inlet of the cylinder.

Caution: The piston may pop out with some force. Do not point the piston at yourself or anyone else.


5. Clean the cylinder walls.

6. Carefully inspect the inner surface of the cylinder for deep scratches and burrs. If any irregularities are found, the working cylinder must be replaced.

7. If the cylinder is rebuildable, disassemble it completely.

8. Using the new parts from the repair kit, reassemble the cylinder, using clean brake fluid as a lubricant. Pay attention to the orientation of the spring and the seal.



7.8. Make sure the cuff is positioned correctly




9. Perform installation in reverse order.

10. Bleed the system as described in section 8.
