2.6L Engine

On these engines, only an induction sensor gap check is permitted, which should only be performed after disassembling the ignition distributor and is not a mandatory maintenance procedure. Reducing the gap beyond the norm is not permitted. As a rule, a small gap is caused by wear of the distributor shaft bearings or improper assembly.

1. Remove the distributor cap.

2. Unscrew the 2 rotor mounting bolts.

3. Rotate the crankshaft to align the 3 stator heads with the 3 ends of the sensor rotor.

Engine 2.0 l

These engines allow for the gap in the induction sensor to be checked and adjusted, which should be performed if abnormal ignition operation is suspected and is not a mandatory maintenance procedure.

1. Remove the distributor cap and rotor.

2. Turn the crankshaft clockwise to align the teeth on the sensor rotor with the fixed part of the ignition unit.

3. Check the gap between the tooth and the fixed part of the ignition unit, which should be 0.8 mm. Adjust if necessary.

4. To do this, loosen the screws and insert the feeler gauge into the gap.

5. Turning the ignition unit on the left screw (moving in the right groove), set the gap.

6. Tighten the right screw, then the left one.

7. Check the gap and install the removed parts.
