Rear axle gearbox (1992-98)

Removal and installation
Cars 1983-91.
1. Raise the vehicle and remove the rear wheels.
2. Drain the oil from the rear axle gearbox.
3. Remove the drums, disconnect the handbrake cable and hydraulic tubes.
4. Loosen the nuts and slide the axle shafts out of the differential by approximately 76 mm.
5. Apply orientation marks and disconnect the rear propeller shaft.
6. Unscrew the nuts and remove the gearbox, placing a trolley with a jack underneath.

7. If necessary, secure the gearbox with the upper nut and move it from its place by striking it through a wooden block, opening the seal.
8. Installation is carried out in reverse order.

9. Lubricate the split surfaces of the gearbox and bridge beams with 3M ART N 8661 or N 8663 sealant or equivalent.
10. Tighten the nuts and bolts to the specified torques.
11. When finished, remove air from the brake hydraulic system.
Cars 1992-98.
1. Remove the rear brake disc and caliper. Move the support to the side and secure it.
2. Disconnect the handbrake cable and hydraulic tubes.
3. Loosen the nuts and slide the axle shafts out of the differential by approximately 76 mm.
4. Apply orientation marks and disconnect the rear propeller shaft, if necessary, remove the shaft from the gearbox.
5. Disconnect the wiring connector and hose from the rear axle (on car parts).
6. Unscrew the nuts and remove the gearbox, placing a trolley with a jack underneath.
7. If necessary, secure the gearbox with the upper nut and move it from its place by striking it through a wooden block, opening the seal.
8. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
9. Lubricate the split surfaces of the gearbox and bridge beams with 3M ART N 8661 or N 8663 sealant or equivalent.
10. Tighten the nuts and bolts to the specified torques.
11. When finished, remove air from the brake hydraulic system.
