Procedure for removing the rear axle gearbox oil seal





1. Reducer; 2, 3. Bearing races of the main gear drive pinion; 4. Adjusting washer; 5. Seal; 6. Flange; 7. Washer; 8. Self-tightening nut


Removal and installation



1. Raise the car, drain the oil from the gearbox.

2. Apply orientation marks and disconnect the rear propeller shaft.

3. Measure the torque of resistance to turning of the main gear drive pinion, which should be 0.4–0.5 N·m. This torque should be maintained during assembly.

4. While holding the flange, unscrew the nut and remove the washer.

5. Remove the drive gear flange, pry up and remove the gearbox oil seal.

6. Assembly is carried out in reverse order.

7. Press the new seal with a mandrel so that the seal surface is flush with the gearbox plane.

8. Tighten the flange nut, checking the torque of resistance to turning of the drive gear, the final tightening torque of the nut should be 190–250 N·m.
