Removing
To remove, perform the following steps in sequence.
Pic. 9.32. Ignition distributor for cars with SOHC engines: 1 – a tip of a high-voltage wire; 2 – a socket of the distributor of ignition; 3 - ignition distributor
1. Disconnect high voltage wires 1 (pic. 9.32).
Attention! When removing wires, hold on to the end of the wire, not the wire itself.
2. Disconnect an electric socket of the distributor of ignition 2.
3. Turn away screws and remove the distributor of ignition 3 and a sealing ring.
Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following.
1. Remove the top timing belt cover.
Attention! The piston of the 1st cylinder will be at TDC on the compression stroke when the alignment marks on the camshaft pulley and cylinder head are also aligned.

3. Align the alignment marks on the rotor and the ignition distributor housing and install the ignition distributor on the engine (pic. 9.34).
Disassembly
Pic. 9.35. Elements of the ignition distributor for cars with SOHC engines: 1 - cover; 2 - rotor; 3 - sealing gasket; 4 - body; 5 - ring gasket
1. Turn away screws and remove a cover of the distributor of ignition 1 (pic. 9.35) and gasket 3.
2. Pulling, remove the ignition distributor rotor 2.
3. Remove O-ring 5.
Examination
1. Clean the parts of the ignition distributor with clean kerosene and dry them.
2. Check the condition of the breaker contacts. Check the ignition distributor cap for corrosion and burnt electrodes. Check the smoothness of the movement of the carbon contact and the amount of its protrusion.
3. If there is burnt contact of the distributor rotor, replace the distributor rotor.
4. Check that there are no cracks on the cover.
Assembly
Assembly is carried out in the reverse order of disassembly.
