Removal
- Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal.
- Remove the two screws securing the instrument cluster trim.
- By tilting the instrument cluster trim forward and upward, release the clips and remove the trim.
- Remove the instrument cluster mounting screws.
- Pull the instrument cluster forward and disconnect the electrical connectors from it.
Installation
- Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following.
- Install the instrument cluster and connect the wire to the negative terminal of the battery. Turn on the ignition. The speedometer and tachometer needles should move from position 0 to the maximum positions and return to 0, while they are calibrated.
Checking the speed sensor
- Raise the car.
- Remove the vehicle speed sensor and connect a 3-10 kOhm resistor, battery and voltmeter to the sensor connector contacts (Fig. 19.75).

- By turning the vehicle speed sensor shaft, make sure that there is a pulse voltage (4 pulses per revolution) between contacts 2 and 3 of the sensor connector.
