If a malfunction occurs in any of the following components of the direct fuel injection system, the engine malfunction indicator lamp comes on ("CHECK ENGINE") (Fig. 8.2).

If the light remains on while the engine is running, check for a fault code.

Note: After turning on the ignition, the indicator lamp lights up, which indicates that the engine management systems and the control lamp are being checked, then after a few seconds the indicator lamp turns off.
