Removing
- Disconnect the wire from the negative battery terminal.
- Remove the timing belt drive timing.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the high pressure fuel pump (pic. 8.17).

- Disconnect the fuel supply and return hoses from the high pressure fuel pump. Immediately after disconnecting the fuel supply and return hoses, as well as the high pressure fuel pipes, be sure to plug the holes through which contaminants can enter the fuel system.
- Loosen the union nuts securing the fuel high pressure pipe to the fuel pump and fuel rail and remove the pipe.
- Using a special tool, block the high pressure fuel pump pulley from turning and remove the pulley mounting bolt (pic. 8.18).

- Remove the pulley from the high pressure fuel pump.
Installation
- Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following.
- Using a special tool, block the high pressure fuel pump pulley from turning and tighten the pulley mounting bolt to 50 Nm (pic. 8.18).
- Start the engine and check the fuel system for leaks.
