Differential elements
1 - bearing; 2 - axis; 3 - differential box; 4 - bushing; 3 - washer; 6 - satellite; 7 - axle gear; 8 - differential gear.

Disassembly

Clamp the differential housing in a vice.

After unscrewing the bolts, remove the differential drive gear.

The bolts should be unscrewed in the reverse order to that shown in the figure.

Clamp the housing (3) in the device and remove the bearings (1) from the housing (3), the cotter pin, the shaft pinion, the gears and the washers.

Remove the side gears and spacer bushings.

Check the condition of the gears and bearings. Clean and dry them. Apply transmission oil to them before assembly.

Assembly

Install the axle shaft gears (4) and spacer bushings (Figure XA12.065).

Install the cotter pin (A) into the hole (B), the satellite axles (I), the satellites (2) and the washers.

Measure the clearance between the axle shaft gears (4) and the washers. It should be 0.025-0.150 mm. If the clearance does not correspond to the standard, the assembly should be repeated using other spacer bushings.

Install the cotter pin (3) of the satellite axle.
