1. When the engine is cold (at least three hours after it has been turned off), check the completeness of the exhaust system, starting from the engine and ending with the exhaust pipe. Free access to the system can be provided by raising the car with a lift.

2. Check the pipes and their connections for leaks, corrosion and damage. Check the condition and tightening of all brackets of the support and suspension of the exhaust system.

3. At the same time, inspect the lower part of the body, make sure there are no holes, corrosion, open welds, etc., which can lead to exhaust gases entering the passenger compartment. Seal all holes in the body with silicone or putty.

4. Rattling and other noises can often be associated with the exhaust system, especially with the mounting units. Check the mounting of the pipes, muffler and catalytic filter. If these elements have the ability to contact body parts or suspension, then replace their mounting units.

5. Check the engine's working condition by inspecting the inside of the exhaust pipe. The coating on the inside of the exhaust pipe is an indicator of the quality of the engine adjustment. If the pipe is black and covered with soot or covered with white coating, the engine needs adjustment, including a complete check and adjustment of the fuel system.
