Carburetor models

1. The fuel filter is usually located on the rear wall of the engine compartment under the emission control system reservoir.

26.1 On most carbureted models, the fuel filter is mounted on the cross-wall below the emission control system tank.

2. For easier access, remove the filter from the spring retainer so that both fittings can be reached.

3. Loosen the hose clamps on the filter connections and slide them onto the hoses.

4. Disconnect the hoses and remove the filter. Now you can replace the hoses if they are old.

5. Connect the hoses to the new filter and install the clamps approximately 6 mm from the end of the hose.

6. Insert the filter into the spring retainer. Check that it is securely fastened and that the hoses are not twisted.

7. Start the engine and check the tightness of the filter connections.

Fuel Injected Models

8. Release the pressure from the fuel system (see Chapter 4).

9. The fuel filter is usually located on the rear wall of the engine compartment next to the exhaust emission control system reservoir.

10. Disconnect the fuel lines, disconnect the filter and remove it from the engine compartment.

26.10. Disconnect the fuel lines (arrows), then disconnect the filter from the bracket - disconnect the lower fitting using a cone wrench.

11. Install in reverse order. Install new sealing washers on both sides of the rotary nipple.
