1. To replace the spark plugs, you will need a spark plug wrench, which fits over a ratchet wrench. The spark plug wrench has a rubber grommet to protect the porcelain insulator of the spark plug and to hold the spark plug in the wrench hole during installation. You will also need a wire feeler gauge to check and adjust the gap between the spark plug electrodes and a torque wrench to tighten the new spark plugs to the specified torque.
2. To replace the spark plugs, purchase new spark plugs in advance, adjust the gap between their electrodes, and replace all spark plugs at the same time.
Note: When purchasing new spark plugs, it is important to purchase the correct type for your vehicle. This information can be found on the Vehicle Emission Control Information (VECI) label located on the underside of the hood or in your owner's manual. 3. Check all spark plugs for defects. If there are cracks in the spark plug or porcelain insulator, replace the spark plug
4. Check the gap between the electrodes of the new spark plugs. The gap is checked by inserting a wire gauge of the appropriate thickness between the electrodes. The gap must correspond to that specified in the specification in this chapter or on the VECI plate. If the gap is not correct, adjust it by bending the side electrode of the spark plug using a special tool with a slot.
5. If the side electrode is not exactly above the center electrode, align it using a slotted tool.
Caution: If you need to adjust the gap on a new spark plug, bend only the electrode connected to ground at its base - do not touch the central electrode.

6. To avoid mixing up the spark plug wires, work on only one spark plug at a time. Remove the wire and cap from one spark plug. Grasp the cap - not the wire - as shown, twist it a half turn, and pull it straight up.
7. If you have compressed air, blow dust and foreign particles off the spark plug (a regular bicycle pump will also work).

Installation
10. It is often difficult to insert spark plugs into their holes and get them into the threads correctly. To do this, place a short piece of hose with an internal diameter of 5 mm on the end of the spark plug. The flexible hose acts as a ball joint and helps insert the spark plug into its hole. If the spark plug does not fit into the thread, the hose will begin to rotate, preventing damage to the thread. Tighten the spark plug securely.
11. Connect the high-voltage wire to the new spark plug by turning the cap until it fits snugly onto the tip of the spark plug.
12. Follow the above procedure for the remaining spark plugs, replacing them one at a time to avoid mixing up the wires.
