Examination
1. The engine cooling fan is controlled by a temperature sensor installed at the bottom of the radiator. When the coolant temperature reaches a predetermined value, the sensor closes the fan motor circuit to ground.
2. First of all, check the fuses (see Chapter 12).
3. To test the fan motor, disconnect the motor electrical connector and use auxiliary wires to connect the motor directly to the battery. If the motor does not work, replace it.
4. If the engine runs normally, then the coolant temperature sensor or wiring is faulty (see Chapter 12).
5. Check the coolant temperature sensor by disconnecting the electrical connector and connecting the wire coming from the engine (located on the temperature sensor connector) to ground using an auxiliary wire.
6. If the fan does not work, check the wiring (see Chapter 12).
Replacement
7. Remove the radiator from the car (see section 4).
8. Disconnect the wiring and unscrew the fan shroud (see illustration).
5.8. Disconnect the wiring harness and unscrew the bolts (shown by arrows)
9. Unscrew the nuts and remove the fan impeller from the motor shaft (see illustration).
5.9 Fix the fan blades to prevent them from rotating, then unscrew the nut (shown by the arrow)
10. Unscrew the screws securing the fan motor to the bracket and remove the motor.
11. Perform installation in reverse order.
Note: Cars with air conditioning have an additional fan to cool the condenser, mounted to the left of the radiator. This fan can be checked according to points 2, 3 and 6.
