Note: When driving downhill or uphill, the speed limit may change.
The cruise control system allows movement in the cruise mode (at cruising speed), coasting, acceleration, return to the previously selected speed mode, and stepwise adjustment of the selected speed.
The main components of the cruise control system include the control switches, reset switches, speed control assembly, information sensor, control module, actuator and connecting rod.
Depending on the year of manufacture of the model, the cruise control may have electronic or vacuum control. The design of the system provides for the possibility of initiating the cruise control only when driving at a speed of at least 40 km/h (25 mph).
The control switches are usually mounted on the steering column lever or on the dashboard of the car. Cruise control reset switches are mounted on the brackets of the foot brake, clutch and gas pedals and when they are triggered, the system is immediately electrically disconnected and the throttle valve returns to the idle position.
Diagnostics of faults of the tempostat
Nature of refusal | Possible reason |
| The system does not maintain the vehicle speed at the selected level | The drive cable adjustment is out of adjustment The throttle actuator rod is jammed There is a loss of vacuum in the vacuum actuator or reservoir The vacuum or vent valve is faulty The stepper motor is faulty The transmitting device is faulty The speed sensor is faulty The temperature control module is faulty |
| From time to time, the tempstat switches off spontaneously | The adjustment of one of the reset switches is broken There is a break or short circuit in the corresponding electrical circuit The transmitting device is faulty The control module is faulty |
| The car moves in jerks | The speedometer drive cable is twisted The throttle actuator rod is jammed The speed sensor is faulty The control model is faulty |
| The temperature control is not functioning | The corresponding fuse has blown There is a break or short circuit in the corresponding electrical circuit One of the reset switch sensors is faulty There are losses of vacuum in the vacuum path The cruise control switch is faulty The stepper motor is faulty The transmitting device is faulty The speed sensor is faulty The control model is faulty |
