Currently, a large number of body repair fillers are available, however, to be honest, a set of body repair parts that contain a filling paste and a tube of polymer hardener is best suited for carrying out repairs.

You will need a wide, flexible plastic or nylon applicator to smooth out the surface of the filler.

1. Mix a small amount of putty mixture on a clean piece of wood or cardboard (using hardener sparingly). Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the package or the filler will not cure properly.

2. Using the applicator, apply the filling paste to the prepared surface.

3. Run the applicator over the surface of the filler to achieve the desired contour and level the surface of the filler.

4. When the initial level and outline are reached, stop working with the paste.

If you continue, the paste will stick to the applicator.

5. Continue applying thin coats of paste at 20 minute intervals until the filler level exactly matches the surrounding metal.

6. When the putty has hardened, its excess can be removed with a file.

7. Next, use sandpaper, gradually increasing its grain size, starting with paper with a grain index of 180 units and ending with waterproof paper with a grain index of 600 units. Always wind the sandpaper on a rubber or wooden block, otherwise the surface of the putty will not be completely flat.

8. When sanding the putty surface, waterproof sandpaper with a grain size of 600 units must be periodically moistened with water. This will help to achieve a very smooth surface.

9. The repair area should now be surrounded by a ring of bare metal, which in turn should be surrounded by good, undamaged paint. Rinse the repair area with water until all sanding dust is removed.

10. Apply a thin layer of primer over the entire cleaned surface. This will help to detect all defects on the surface of the putty.

11. Correct any defects found with fresh putty or glaze and sand the surface again.

12. Repeat the primer and filler application process until you are satisfied with the quality of the filler surface and paint edge.

13. Rinse the surface with clean water and let it dry completely.

14. Now the repair area is ready for painting. Spray painting should be carried out in warm, dry, windless weather, when there is no dust in the air.

These conditions can be achieved if you have access to a large production facility.

15. However, if you have to work outdoors, you need to choose the day for painting very carefully. If you are working indoors, spray the floor with water. This will help you to pin down dust that might otherwise become airborne.

16. If the repair area is on one body panel, cover all surrounding panels. This will help you minimize minor mismatches in paint color.

17. Decorative trim pieces such as chrome trim, door handles, etc. also need to be masked or removed. To mask, use masking tape and several layers of paper.

18. Shake the paint thoroughly before spraying, then practice spraying it to learn how to do it correctly.

19. Apply a thick layer of primer to the surface to be repaired. It is better to apply several thin layers than one thick one.

20. Using 600 grit sandpaper, sand the primer surface until it is very smooth.

21. During this operation, the surface to be treated must be thoroughly wetted with water. The sandpaper also needs to be dipped in water periodically.

22. Allow the primer to dry before applying additional coats.

23. Spray paint onto the top layer, increasing its thickness by applying several layers.

24. Start spraying paint from the center of the area to be repaired and then, using circular motions, spray the entire repair area and approximately 5 cm of surrounding paint.

25. Remove all masking material 10-15 minutes after applying the last coat of paint.

26. Allow the new paint to dry for at least two weeks, then use a very fine sanding compound to smooth the transition from the new paint to the original.

27. Finally, apply a coat of wax.
