Removing
1. Disconnect the battery from the ground.
2. Detach the latches (or unscrew the screws) and remove the distributor cap together with the wires, take it aside.
3. Mark position of the distributor on the block of cylinders.
4. Label and disconnect the hose from the vacuum regulator.
5. Disconnect from the distributor a socket.
6. Mark the position of the slider relative to the distributor.
7. Turn away a nut and get the distributor. Pay attention to the direction of turning the slider when removing the distributor, mark the position of the slider on the removed distributor.
8. Remove the seal from the distributor shank.
Installation
Attention! The crankshaft did not rotate when the distributor was removed.
1. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. Replace seal. When installing, set the slider to the position indicated after removing the distributor, carefully insert the distributor into the cylinder block, slightly turn the roller, engaging the drive gears, and pressing, put the distributor in place, aligning the marks on the cylinder block and distributor housing.
Attention! Crankshaft rotated with distributor removed
2. Set the piston of the 1st cylinder to the TDC of the compression stroke. To do this, turn the crankshaft clockwise until the mark on the pulley or damper aligns with the lug on the cylinder block. Remove the valve cover and check the valve springs of the 1st cylinder. If both springs or at least one are compressed, then turn the crankshaft 1 turn. If the rocker arms sway, then the piston of the 1st cylinder is at TDC of the compression stroke.
3. Turn the distributor roller so that the marks on the gear and distributor shank match (marks: 1 - on the gear, 2 - on the distributor shank).
4. Insert the distributor into the cylinder block, rotate the shaft slightly, engaging the drive gears, and put the distributor in place. If the slider is not aligned with the output for the candle of the 1st cylinder, then feed the distributor back. tighten the roller and put it back in place.
5. Align the marks on the cylinder block and distributor housing, tighten the bolt (nut) and install all removed parts.
