A piece of wire to check the clearance of the connecting rod bearing

Replacement
1. If there are no noticeable signs of wear on the connecting rod bearings, then you can limit yourself to checking the clearances in the bearings. The gap is checked by the amount of crushing of the plastic wire gauge when the connecting rod cap nuts are tightened.
2. Check the end play of the connecting rod. If the backlash exceeds norm, then a rod and a cover replace.
3. When replacing bearings, install them so that the tabs on the shells fit into the recesses on the cap and connecting rod.
