Inserting the connecting rod holding device

Adjusting the position of the connecting rod when pressing out the pin

1. Connecting rod

Guide for the pin pressing device

Pressing out and pressing in of the pin is performed in a car service center using the MD 998184-01 device with a hydraulic press and a set of special mandrels. The force during pressing out is about 1.78 Tf, during pressing in – from 4.9 to 16.0 Tf.

If the pin is not pressed in with such force, replace the connecting rod and (or) pin.

Checking the amount of protrusion of the finger on the sides of the piston

When pressing the pin, check the amount of its protrusion (1) on both sides of the piston.

The pressed out pin should pass through the piston with a little effort. Otherwise, replace the piston and (or) pin.
