Checking the return of the traction relay anchor (Mitsubishi Pajero 4)

1. Disconnect the excitation winding wire from terminal M of the traction relay.

2. Connect the battery between terminal M of the traction relay and the ground of the starter housing.

Warning: This check must be performed quickly (no more than 10 seconds), to prevent the winding from burning out.


3. Manually extend the drive gear and release. If the gear quickly returns to its original position, then the traction relay is working properly. If the gear does not return to its original position, replace the traction relay.

Caution: Be careful not to get your fingers caught in the gear.
