2. Connect the battery to terminals M and S of the traction relay.
3. Turn on the battery voltage, and the starter drive gear will move forward until it stops.
Warning: This check must be performed quickly (no more than 10 seconds), to prevent the winding from burning out.

4. Check the clearance between the drive gear and the limiting ring with a flat feeler gauge (axial clearance).
Nominal clearance: 0.5 - 2.0 mm

5. If the axial clearance is outside the nominal values, adjust it by installing or removing adjusting shims between the traction relay and the front starter bracket.
