Checking the output voltage of the wheel speed sensor (Mitsubishi Space Star)

1. Raise the vehicle and release the parking brake lever.

2. Pull the lock in the direction of the arrow shown in Figure 15.74 and disconnect the connector from the control unit.

3. To measure the output voltage of the wheel speed sensor, use a special tool connected to the contacts of the disconnected connector (Fig. 15.75).

4. Rotate the wheel at a frequency of 1/2-1 revolution per second using a voltmeter or oscilloscope to measure the output voltage of the wheel speed sensor.

5. Output voltage:
  • when measured with a voltmeter: not less than 50 mV
  • when measured with an oscilloscope: not less than 120 mV

If the output voltage is lower than required, the wheel speed sensor may be faulty and needs to be replaced.
