Removal

• Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal.
• Remove the lower trim of the instrument panel on the passenger side (see section "Body").
• Disconnect the connector and remove the cigarette lighter illumination lamp.
• Squeeze the clips and remove the cigarette lighter assembly.

Examination

• Remove the cigarette lighter from the socket and check the ends of the central electrode for wear, as well as for tobacco and foreign substances on the coil.
• Use an ohmmeter to check the integrity of the heating coil (Fig. 19.103).

Warnings: Do not plug any additional equipment with a power greater than 120 watts into the cigarette lighter.
