Removal
- Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal.
- Remove the exhaust pipe.
- Remove the power steering pump drive belt.
- Remove the bolts and remove the power steering pump along with the attached hose and bracket.
Note: Use a cord or soft wire to secure the removed power steering pump to the engine compartment so that it does not interfere with removal of the exhaust manifold.
- Remove the bolts and the exhaust manifold cover.
- Loosen the nuts and remove the exhaust manifold and exhaust manifold gasket from the cylinder head.
Examination
- Check the exhaust manifold for cracks or other damage.
- Use a metal ruler and feeler gauges to measure the flatness of the intake manifold mating surface.
Deviation from flatness of the mating surface of the exhaust manifold:
- nominal: no more than 0.15 mm
- maximum permissible: 0.20 mm
Installation
- Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following.
- Install the exhaust pipe.
- Install and adjust the tension of the power steering pump drive belt.
