Removal
- Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal.
- Reduce the timing belt tension.
- Remove the bolt and crankshaft position sensor.
- Remove the crankshaft pulley.
- Remove the roll pins and remove the crankshaft position sensor impeller and spacer sleeve.
- Drill two small holes in the front crankshaft oil seal, located at diametrically opposite ends of the oil seal. Screw two self-tapping screws into the drilled holes in the oil seal and, using pliers, pull the oil seal out by the screw heads.
- Clean the oil seal seat.
Installation
- Lubricate the working lip of the new oil seal with a thin layer of engine oil.
- Using the special tool, install the front crankshaft oil seal as shown in figure 3.29.
- Install the pulley with cylindrical pins inserted into it, the crankshaft position sensor impeller and the spacer sleeve onto the crankshaft (Fig. 3.51).
- Install the timing belt to drive the gas distribution mechanism.
- Connect the cable to the negative terminal of the battery.
