2. Make sure the engine only starts when the selector lever is in the N or P position and does not start if the selector lever is in any other position.
3. Start the engine and check that the vehicle starts moving when the lever is moved from N to 1st or 2nd gear and moves backward when the lever is moved to R.
4. Turn off the engine.
5. Turn on the ignition and make sure that moving the selector lever from position P to position R, the reversing lights come on and a buzzer is heard.
Note. The ignition switch and selector lever lock mechanism is designed so that the selector lever can be moved out of position P if the key in the ignition switch is in any position other than LOCK (OFF) and the brake pedal is pressed (pic. 13.32).
