2. Measure the distance from the clutch pedal to the floor and the play in the connection of the clutch pedal pin to the clutch master cylinder pusher (Fig. 11.1).
Fig. 11.1. Location (A) for measuring the installation height of the clutch pedal and the play (B) in the connection of the clutch pedal pin to the clutch master cylinder pusher
Clutch pedal installation height (A):
- cars produced since 1999 with left-hand drive: 163.5-166.5 mm
- cars produced since 1999 with right-hand drive: 162.5-165.5 mm
- cars produced since 2000 with 4G93 engines with left-hand drive: 173.3-176.3 mm
- left-hand drive vehicles with F9Q1 engines: 173.3-176.3 mm
- right-hand drive vehicles with 4G93 and F9Q1 engines: 172.8-175.8 mm
Play in the connection of the clutch pedal pin to the clutch master cylinder pusher (B): 1-3 mm
The article is based on data from the website (mitsubishiman)
If the clutch pedal installation height does not correspond to the required value, loosen the lock nut and, by turning the adjusting bolt, adjust the clutch pedal installation height (Fig. 11.2).
Fig. 11.2. Adjusting the height of the clutch pedal and the play in the clutch pedal pin connection: M - mounting nut, 13 Nm; 2 - adjusting bolt; 3 — lock nut, 13 Nm
If the play in the connection is outside the nominal value range, loosen the lock nut and adjust the play to the nominal value by rotating the pusher. Do not press on the clutch master cylinder pusher during adjustment, otherwise the clutch operation will be impaired.
4. After completing the adjustments, check that the free travel of the clutch pedal (measured by the pedal pad) and the distance between the clutch pedal pad and the floor with the clutch disengaged are within the nominal range (Fig. 11.3)
Fig. 11.3. Location for measuring the free travel (C) of the clutch pedal and the distance (D) between the clutch pedal pad and the floor
Clutch pedal free play (C): 6-13 mm
Distance between clutch pedal pad and floor (D):
- left-hand drive vehicles: 50 mm
- right hand drive vehicles: 75 mm
5. If the measurement results are outside the nominal value range, it may be caused by air entering the clutch hydraulic drive, a fault in the clutch master cylinder or the clutch itself. Bleed the hydraulic drive, disassemble and check the master cylinder or clutch.
6. Put the carpet back in place.
