Removing
Warning. When removing and installing the lever and the shift rod, be careful not to hit. the electronic control unit for the additional passive restraint system (SRS-ECLf).
- Remove the air filter.
- Remove the center console.
- Pull up to remove the shift lever knob (pic. 12.11).

- Remove bushing.
- Disconnect the gear selector cable from the gear lever (from the gear lever side).
- Remove the retainer and disconnect the shift cable (from the gear lever side).
- Remove pins, disconnect (from the gearbox side) selector and shift cables.
- Loosen the nuts securing the torso seal to the body and remove the cables from the vehicle.
- Remove bolts, bushings, spacers and shift lever assembly.
Installation
- Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following.
- Set the gearshift lever on the gearbox and the gearshift lever in the passenger compartment to the neutral position (pic. 12.12).

- From the side of the gearbox, by the cursory and yellow marks, determine the tips of the shift and gear selection cables and secure them with cotter pins.
- Inside the vehicle, connect the shift and selector cables to the shift lever.
- Move the gear lever to all operating positions and check its operation. Switching should be smooth and without jamming.
