Removal the gear shift mechanism
Caution: When removing and installing the shift cables and linkages, be careful not to touch or hit the SRS control unit.
1. Set the gear shift lever to neutral position.
2. Remove the shift handle (1).
3. Remove the bushing (2).
4. Remove the transfer case shift handle (3).
5. Remove the speed indicator panel assembly.
6. Remove the transfer case shift lever switch assembly (4).
7. Remove the transfer case shift lever switch (5).
8. Remove the transfer case shift lever switch bracket (6).
9. Remove the dust cover mounting plate (7).
10. Remove the dust cover (8).
11. Remove the spring ring (9).
12. Remove the gearbox control lever assembly (10).
Installing the gear shift mechanism
1. Install the gearbox control lever assembly (10).
2. Install the spring ring (9).
3. Install the dust cover (8).
4. Install the dust cover mounting plate (7).
5. Install the transfer case shift lever switch bracket (6).
6. Install the transfer case shift lever switch (5).
7. Install the transfer case shift lever switch assembly (4).
8. Install the speed indicator panel assembly.
9. Install the transfer case shift handle (3).
10. Install the sleeve (2).
1) Install the sleeve as shown in the figure, and then install the shift handle.
11. Install the shift handle (1).
12. Check the correct and smooth operation of the gearshift lever and transfer case.
