Removal



Warning: When removing and installing the shift lever and shift rod, be careful not to hit the SRS electronic control unit (SRS-ECU).

  • Remove the center console.
  • Unscrew the gear shift rod adjusting bolt (Fig. 12.9).

  • Loosen the nut and remove the gear shift rod mounting bolt from the gear shift lever side.
  • Use a wire to hang the gear shift rod assembly from below to the vehicle's transmission components.
  • Loosen the nut and remove the bolt securing the gearshift rod from the gearbox side. Remove the ring seals, gearshift rod bushings and sleeve.
  • If necessary, remove the bolts and remove the gear shift lever assembly.

Installation


  • Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following.
  • Check the operation of the reverse gear lock mechanism.
  • Check the operation of the gear shift lever.
