1. Disconnect the air hose from the air cleaner intake pipe. Start the engine and observe the flap with a mirror through the hole in the pipe. When the engine is cold, the flap should be closed, not letting in outside air. When the engine warms up, the flap should drop, letting air through the hole in the intake pipe.
