Automatic transmission fluid and filter replacement (Mitsubishi Colt 2)

1. Automatic transmission fluid must be replaced at certain intervals.

2. Drive the vehicle to warm up the automatic transmission fluid.

3. Raise the vehicle and support it on supports.



34.4 Using a socket wrench, remove the automatic transmission drain plug without unscrewing it


4. Remove the drain plug (34.4), drain the fluid and replace the plug.



34.5 Unscrew the mounting bolts (indicated by arrows) and remove the filter


5. Remove the gearbox oil pan, unscrew the mounting bolts and remove the filter (34.5).

6. Install the new filter in place and tighten the mounting bolts to the specified torque.

7. Install a new oil pan gasket and install the oil pan onto the transmission.

8. Lower the vehicle to the ground and add new automatic transmission fluid through the dipstick tube.
